About me
Curious by training. Collaborative by choice.
I’m Zihao (Gary) Wang, a Data Science student with a Mathematics minor at the University of Michigan.
Before Michigan, I studied data science, economics, and mathematics at the University of Rochester. Moving between fields—and classrooms—shaped my interest in building technical systems that people can understand and use.
I wore number 12 in every sport I played in high school, and it became my favorite number; I’ve kept it as a personal signature ever since—hence zihaowang12.com.

02 / Beyond the work
Quiz bowl is my favorite kind of rabbit hole.
I enjoy the range of ideas it brings into one room—from history and literature to science and pop culture. At Rochester, I directed a 14-team tournament, welcomed more than 50 players, and trained a 10-person staff. At Michigan, I’m still happiest with a buzzer in hand.
